Another thing I was just curious about...
Someone posted a comment wondering how our personalities will be in Heaven and that made me think about other conversations I've had about Heaven. So I was just wondering what you guys thought about this: what do you think God's personality will be like? I knows He's perfect, but that's about all I know, and if that's all He is...and maybe I'll get struck down for typing this, but perfect sounds boring. Really, I'm sure that's not at all what God will be like, and that's why I was wondering what you all thought. So...yeah, sorry this is short and random and not really having anything to do with science fiction or philosophy, but I'm pretty sure you can all handle it.

Indeed, when you say 'perfect sounds boring' I don't think a shot down is quite correct to do. As Agent Smith said about their perfect (Heaven-esque if you will) matrix: "It was a disaster". I've often wondered what will keep us busy up there. A big table with food and football to play, as the song says? If so, do we keep score of the football game? Does God know who will win? :) (Does God play too?) The only things I've held onto are that any type of visualization we can have now isn't at all complex enough to represent what it will be like, and that it's going to be pretty good. But trying to see any task that will be done for eternity that will be wholesome the whole time is nearly like trying to find something for Sisyphus to do; build that pub! Rachel, consider yourself quite the opposite of struck down, at least from me.

i agree with brett in that trying to contemplate heaven is like trying to grasp infinity. in regards to thinking "perfect = boring" i definately hear where you're coming from. but i have an idea, maybe you can follow me on this: God's ideals are always backward to humans. we're not inclined to make the least of us the most important (think of what we do about celebrities). visiting prisons sounds scary. loving our enemies is not natural . . . this list could go on and on. perhaps we (myself included) are tagging human perceptions onto something that wasn't meant to be human: heaven. am i making sense :)? what i mean is that God's "perfect" could very well be different than our meager perception of "perfect." i like to think of my life thus far for examples, and you can think about your own life, too. has something happened to you that you didn't plan yourself doing and it turned out to be one of the best experiences ever? i think those experiences carry a bit of heaven in them, for they were beyond our expectations and beyond what we could imagine for ourselves. perhaps this is what God has in store for us in heaven.
