Here is an interview with Jim Carrey about the Number 23. He brings up an interesting Philosophy. Don't know if I agree, but I would like to know other people's comments.

Yeah, I think at first I got the impression that objects sought out people which is strange. But the ending remarks about how we become who we are out of necessity has a lot of truth to it. Like his story about why he became funny to make his mom feel special. That makes sense to me.
