If you had the powers of your favorite super hero, would you tell those around you of your powers or would you keep them to yourself? Would you allow people to know who you are like the Fantastic Four or would you keep them to yourself so as not to put those around you in danger like The Amazing Spider Man? So what would you do?

Well if I had super hero powers life would be more interesting than it is now, but I think a close friend. I say this because you may need some help to help cover for you as many times spider man himself could have used. Danger is going to happen to those close to regardless if you let them know about your ablities or not, because all the villain has to do is discover who you reall are (which usually is not too difficult to figure out) and then abserve who you are around. So no matters if you let others know about your powers might not always protect them against your enemies.

There's a really good Elseworlds book out there called Superman: Secret Identity in which a kid who's parent named Clark, with the last name of Kent, because they thought it would be cool for him to a famous name. The kid is picked on his whole life with Superman jokes and being set up on dates with every Lois in the book. One day Clark's out camping and wakes up to find himself flying 20 feet above the ground. The whole concept of the book is what would you do if you had the powers of Superman in the real world. Clark wears a Superman costume so people will think he's a figment of the imagination when he saves them, but eventually the government starts to try and capture him for study. Clark gets married, has children and makes a deal with government agents to help them when they need him if they'll leave him and his family alone. He chooses not to tell his parents and daughters about his powers and only tells his wife, yes her name is Lois. For me I don't think you could go public like the Fantastic 4 because you would never have a moments, people would call on you for your help constantly even for problems that they can handle on their own. Powers would be great, but there are so many factors in our world that it would be hard to go public with them.

The level and nature of my power would make or break my decision to go public. The only way I would go public with my powers would be if I was pretty much omnipotent. An example is Dr. Manhattan from one of the greatest graphic novels ever writtern, Watchmen. He has way to much depth to explain for this blog but basically he has control of all atomic life thus giving him god like powers of creation, quantum understanding, seeing the future, etc. Another example would be Galactus, cause aint nobody wana mess with him. So if I had the powers of the previously mentioned than I would go public and most likely end up going public inadvertantly anyway.
If I didnt have god like powers I would keep my identity a secret. Any one interested in this topic should read the Marvel Civil War comics. They deal with the a war between people who want superheroes/mutants to reveal their identities and those who dont. mmmmm comics...good stuff
